A contemporary civic workplace that embodies the identity and ambition of a national mobility institution.
Project Overview
Conceived as a competition entry for the headquarters of Qatar Railways in Doha, this proposal reimagines the corporate workplace as an open, integrated, and future-oriented urban ensemble. Designed by 1PAX (as 1M2) for SETEC TPI and Siemens, the project consolidates offices, parking, and public space into a coherent architectural composition embedded within the civic fabric.
Beyond accommodating administrative functions, the headquarters acts as a public-facing institution—representing the operational excellence and forward-looking vision of Qatar’s rail network. The design balances corporate rigor with spatial generosity, reinforcing the organization’s role as a driver of national connectivity and sustainable mobility.
Key Challenge
The challenge was to reconcile operational precision and security requirements with openness, accessibility, and urban integration. The headquarters needed to function as an efficient administrative machine while projecting transparency and civic presence—avoiding the isolation often associated with large institutional buildings.
Our Approach
At 1PAX, every mobility project begins with people and experience . The architectural concept is structured around clarity—clear circulation, legible spatial organization, and intuitive movement. Office environments are designed to foster collaboration, well-being, and adaptability, anticipating the evolution of workplace culture and technology.
The ensemble is organized to create a dialogue between built form and public realm. Carefully framed open spaces and shaded pedestrian areas soften the transition between infrastructure and city, while parking and service areas are integrated seamlessly into the overall composition.
Sustainability principles inform both form and performance. Passive strategies, efficient envelopes, and resource-conscious systems reflect our commitment to embedding life-cycle thinking and environmental responsibility into every project . The result is an architecture that is disciplined yet welcoming—robust in operation, refined in expression.
