Delivering robust auxiliary infrastructure to support operational growth, safety, and long-term airport performance.
Value Delivered
Project Overview
Starting in 2020, 1PAX was commissioned for the expansion of Conakry–Gbessia International Airport, focusing on the design of key auxiliary facilities essential to the airport’s operational efficiency and resilience. Working in collaboration with EGIS Bâtiment and EGIS Avia, the scope addressed a total area of approximately 27,500 m² and formed part of a major investment program aimed at strengthening the airport’s capacity and technical performance.
Key Challenge
The expansion required the integration of multiple highly technical facilities within an active airport environment. The challenge was to ensure that each building—administrative, operational, and safety-related—met strict standards for security, accessibility, maintenance, and durability, while achieving architectural coherence and seamless integration within the overall airport site.
Our Approach
1PAX defined clear architectural and technical principles for a set of complementary facilities, including an administrative headquarters, a cargo building, a power plant, and an SSLIA fire station. The design approach emphasized functional clarity, operational efficiency, and long-term robustness. Particular attention was given to the selection of high-quality, durable materials suited to local climatic conditions, as well as to the careful organization of spaces to ensure safe circulation, ease of maintenance, and compliance with international airport standards.
