Delivering a compact, high-performance hangar that supports fleet growth within constrained airport conditions.
Value Delivered
Project Overview
In 2023, 1PAX was commissioned by EDEIS COLAS, in collaboration with Ingerop, to design a new aircraft hangar for Air Guyane at Félix Eboué Cayenne Airport. The project responds to the airline’s growing operational needs, providing additional space to accommodate an expanding fleet while integrating seamlessly into the existing airport infrastructure.
Key Challenge
The primary challenge was the site constraint: the designated area for the new hangar was partially occupied by an active cargo parking zone critical to airport operations. The project required a solution that could increase aircraft accommodation capacity without compromising existing logistics functions or reducing parking availability.
Our Approach
1PAX developed an innovative spatial strategy that optimized land use and carefully balanced operational priorities. The hangar layout was designed to maximize internal efficiency and aircraft maneuverability while preserving the full functionality of the adjacent cargo parking area. Architectural and technical decisions were guided by clarity of circulation, ease of maintenance, and direct integration with Air Guyane’s operational workflows.
