Enhancing clarity and orientation through a high-visibility wayfinding system aligned with international airport standards.
Value Delivered
Project Overview
In 2019, 1PAX was commissioned by Belgrade Airport to design the wayfinding signage system for Nikola Tesla International Airport, a major regional hub serving up to 15 million passengers annually. The project covered approximately 92,000 m² of terminal space and focused on improving passenger orientation, gate visibility, and overall legibility within a complex and evolving airport environment.
Key Challenge
The airport required a clear and consistent wayfinding strategy capable of guiding high passenger volumes efficiently while adapting to operational changes and terminal growth. The challenge was to enhance visibility and comprehension without overloading the visual environment, ensuring that signage remained intuitive, readable, and aligned with international concession and operational standards.
Our Approach
1PAX developed the wayfinding project using Vinci Airports Concessions charts as a reference framework, ensuring consistency with global best practices. The system emphasized improved gate visibility through carefully positioned signage boards and totems. Backlit elements were integrated to enhance readability in varying lighting conditions, reinforcing visual hierarchy and supporting effortless navigation across key passenger decision points.
